Membership Policy

Eligibility

Professional Membership is available to individuals who:

​

  • Hold recognised qualifications, professional experience or demonstrated expertise relevant to the intentional communities sector; or

  • Provide professional services that support community-led housing, sustainability or collaborative living; or

  • Have significant practical experience that contributes meaningfully to the sector

  • Professional industry experience and

  • Experience working in the intentional community/ecovillage environment. 

 

Relevant professions include, but are not limited to:

  • Lawyers

  • Mediators

  • Accountants

  • Financial advisers

  • Sustainability consultants

  • Ecologists

  • Renewable energy specialists

  • Agricultural professionals

  • Governance consultants

  • Facilitators

 

Applicants must support AEON’s Objects and agree to comply with the Constitution, Code of Conduct and relevant policies.

 

Applications are assessed by the appropriate Membership Assessment Panel.

 
Professional Standards

 

Professional Members agree to:

​

  • Act honestly, ethically and professionally.

  • Maintain appropriate qualifications or experience relevant to the services they provide.

  • Avoid misleading or deceptive representations.

  • Respect client confidentiality.

  • Declare actual or perceived conflicts of interest.

  • Support respectful collaboration within the sector.

  • Comply with applicable laws and professional obligations.

  • Uphold the reputation of AEON.

 

Membership does not constitute professional accreditation or endorsement by AEON.

 
Membership Renewal

 

Membership is renewed annually.

 

Renewal requires:

​

  • Continued eligibility.

  • Payment of annual membership fees.

  • Ongoing compliance with AEON policies.

 
 
Suspension or Termination

Membership may be suspended or cancelled where a member:

​

  • No longer meets eligibility requirements.

  • Seriously breaches the Constitution or Code of Conduct.

  • Acts dishonestly or unethically.

  • Brings AEON into serious disrepute.

  • Fails to pay membership fees after reasonable notice.

 

Procedural fairness will apply, including written notice and an opportunity to respond before any decision is made.

 
Terms & Conditions

 

By applying for Professional Membership, you agree that:

​

  • Membership is subject to approval by AEON.

  • Annual membership fees are payable in advance and are generally non-refundable once membership has commenced, except where required by law.

  • Membership does not constitute professional certification, registration, accreditation or endorsement.

  • Directory listings are based on information provided by the member. Members are responsible for ensuring their information remains accurate and current.

  • Members retain ownership of their own intellectual property while granting AEON permission to display approved profile information, photographs, biographies and logos for membership, promotional and directory purposes.

  • Members are responsible for maintaining any licences, registrations, insurance or professional memberships required by their profession.

  • AEON accepts no responsibility for contracts, advice or services provided between members and third parties.

  • Personal information will be managed in accordance with AEON’s Privacy Policy and applicable Australian privacy legislation.

  • Members may resign at any time by providing written notice. Fees already paid are generally not refundable.

  • AEON reserves the right to amend membership policies, benefits and terms from time to time, with notice provided in accordance with the Constitution.
