Membership Policy

Eligibility

Industry & Public Sector Membership is available to organisations whose activities support, influence or contribute to intentional communities, collaborative housing or sustainable community development.

​

Eligible organisations may include:

​

  • Government departments

  • Local councils

  • Statutory authorities

  • Universities

  • TAFEs

  • Research institutions

  • Developers

  • Utility providers

  • Renewable energy companies

  • Financial institutions

  • Insurance providers

  • Legal practices

  • Planning consultancies

  • Engineering firms

  • Construction companies

  • Social enterprises

  • Industry associations

  • Peak bodies

  • Registered charities

  • Philanthropic foundations

  • Technology providers

  • Service organisations

 

Applicants must demonstrate alignment with AEON’s Objects and a commitment to constructive engagement with the intentional communities sector.

​

Applications are assessed by the appropriate Membership Assessment Panel.

 
Member Responsibilities

 

Members agree to:

​

  • Support the Objects and purposes of AEON.

  • Engage respectfully with communities and other members.

  • Maintain high standards of professional and organisational conduct.

  • Avoid conduct that could bring AEON into disrepute.

  • Declare actual or perceived conflicts of interest where relevant.

  • Maintain accurate organisational contact details.

  • Nominate an authorised representative for voting and communications.

  • Pay membership fees when due.

  • Comply with AEON’s Constitution, Code of Conduct and policies.

 
Membership Renewal

 

Membership is renewed annually.

​

Renewal is subject to:

​

  • Continued eligibility.

  • Payment of annual membership fees.

  • Ongoing compliance with AEON policies.

 
Suspension or Termination

 

Membership may be suspended or cancelled where an organisation:

​

  • No longer meets eligibility requirements.

  • Seriously breaches AEON’s Constitution or Code of Conduct.

  • Acts contrary to AEON’s Objects.

  • Uses membership in a misleading or inappropriate manner.

  • Fails to pay membership fees following reasonable notice.

 

AEON will apply principles of procedural fairness, including written notice of concerns and an opportunity for the member to respond before any decision is made.

 
Terms & Conditions

 

By applying for Industry & Public Sector Membership, your organisation agrees that:

​

  • Membership is subject to approval by AEON.

  • Annual membership fees are payable in advance and are generally non-refundable once membership has commenced, except where required by law.

  • Membership does not constitute endorsement, certification or accreditation of your organisation, products or services by AEON.

  • Members may identify themselves as an AEON Industry & Public Sector Member while maintaining accurate and truthful representations of the relationship.

  • Members retain ownership of their intellectual property while granting AEON permission to use approved organisation names, logos and promotional material for membership directories, communications and promotional activities.

  • Participation in AEON working groups, research projects or consultations does not guarantee adoption of recommendations or policy positions.

  • Members are responsible for ensuring that any advice, products or services they provide comply with applicable laws, professional standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Personal and organisational information will be managed in accordance with AEON’s Privacy Policy and applicable Australian privacy legislation.

  • Members may resign at any time by providing written notice. Membership fees already paid are generally not refundable.

  • AEON reserves the right to amend membership policies, benefits and terms from time to time, with notice provided in accordance with the Constitution.
